Why Counselling

Counselling is a talking therapy that offers the opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and experiences in a confidential and supportive environment.

It is not about being given advice or being told what to do. Instead, counselling can help you develop greater self-awareness, understanding, and clarity about the difficulties you may be experiencing.

Sometimes, having the space to talk openly and honestly with someone outside of your everyday life can help you begin to make sense of things differently.

The Counselling Relationship

A strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of the counselling process. The counselling I offer provides a calm, supportive, and respectful environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly.

You will be listened to empathically and without judgement, not being told what to do, but supported to better understand yourself, your experiences, and the difficulties you may be facing. Together, we can work towards understanding and clarifying the things that may be troubling you.

Sometimes, simply having the opportunity to talk openly and express difficult emotions can bring relief and greater clarity. Counselling can also stir up painful memories and feelings, which may feel uncomfortable at times, but this can often be an important part of the therapeutic process and can help release what may be holding you back in life.

I do not pretend to have all the answers; I believe you are the expert on your own life and experiences.

The Process of Counselling

Counselling can sometimes involve exploring painful emotions, difficult experiences, or past relationships, which may feel uncomfortable at times. However, this can often be an important part of developing greater understanding, self-awareness, and emotional growth.

The process of counselling can help you begin to recognise patterns, understand yourself more deeply, and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges.

Sessions move at a pace that feels manageable and appropriate for you.
